Inés Fuentes was born in Southern Spain and currently lives in Vienna, Austria, where she creates the majority of her art. The use of vivid colors and expressive lines, often mixed with technique experimentation, characterizes her style. Through the years, her work has developed in different ways without losing its essence. The themes might change, but Inés’ perception of the world is always visible.
“I paint what feels right, what makes me happy, and I hope that when people look at my paintings, they get a similar feeling.”
Part of what inspires her art is the beautiful and architecturally rich city of Vienna and its people, as well as the forests and hills surrounding it. Another powerful source of inspiration is her appreciation for the unique beauty of Southern Spain, which grew after her move to Vienna in 2014 and eventually led her closer to finding her own style. A passion for light, colors and the experience of traveling emanates from her paintings, which show a new way of perceiving the world around us.
“I was lucky to return with a new perspective and absorb it as if I was seeing it for the first time.”
Inés Fuentes first started painting at the age of 8 and then went on to earn a degree in Fine Arts from the prestigious University of Granada in Spain. Her art has since been featured in several exhibitions at the United Nation’s Vienna International Center, the Vienna City Hall and during ICDO’s “Long Night of Intercultural Dialogue”, among others.
In addition to creating art, she also teaches art at the United Nation’s Vienna International Center as well as giving private lessons.
“Through teaching I find the inspiration to paint. I believe that everybody can learn and they help me to never give up trying to be a better artist and teacher.”
